Dana Irving

Dana Irving was born in Prince George, BC in 1959. She studied at Douglas College, Victoria College of Art, Vancouver Academy of Art, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and Kwantlen College. Influenced by the painters of the 1930’s and 40’s as well as Canada’s own “Group of Seven”, Dana has travelled extensively across British Columbia and Alberta as well as forays into Ontario and Quebec finding endless inspiration in the Canadian landscape. Her paintings focus on movement and light with a touch of whimsy. "For me as a painter, to interpret the inspiring beauty of the Canadian landscape and present it in my own unique language is enjoyable in itself, but to connect with the viewer in that same language is a thrill beyond measure." Sonya Iwasiuk

Sonya's art captures the pureness and beauty, as well as the harshness and dark realities of nature, places, people and things that are often never seen or overlooked. Raised in small towns and farms in Northern Alberta, with iconic expansive skies and endless fields sprinkled with deserted homesteads, she developed a love for nature and the abandoned. No wonder she creates her artworks with the jewels of old jars, and tractor parts buried like fossil bones in the dust of top soil. Visit the site below to learn more...
